Well, that would be indicative of something to do with pressure
differential
but then, unless the APS changes over, then the pcb shouldn't allow the
sequence to go further i.e. spark and open the gas valve
Not entirely sure I'm following you. You are saying that if the APS was
faulty, it wouldn't have switched on at all?
yes
How does this air pressure
gets build up? By the fan?
yes
Why is it that when there is no air pressure
(i.e. cover open) it does work?
No idea
The APS has to move to a short circuit (common to normally open on the
microswitch) for the sequence to work. It's function in life is to tell
the pcb that the fan is actually operating correctly
Remember me? Well, I finally got it fixed by replacing the APS. I chanced
a bargain on ebay and when it arrived I had it replaced in seconds... shame
that the model (although compatible with the original APS) doesnt allow
itself to be mounted onto the boiler so it is just 'dangling' at the moment
until I can find myself a direct replacement.
At least I've got my hot water back
Is it the correct APS for the boiler, set to the correct pressure ?
