That depends on the goal. In a situation where reliable utility power
is readily available solar may not be an economical choice.

But in a remote location solar is a reasonable option. The roof
shingle panels offered by ECD Ovonics are relatively inexpensive and
easy to install.

Of course if oil goes through the roof the economics change. Who
knows?

The cost is somewhere around $100 per watt, does that sound affordable
in any household context?
