A little clarification:
On-hook voltage (hung up): 48V DC +/-10% at the demarc.
If it's outside that range, it doesn't meet specs.
Off-hook (receiver picked up: Between 8 and 14 V DC, depending on
a LOT of things.

What about a cable phone line?
