It sounds like you want the hammer arrestor - not a regulator.

You should install at least a 2 gallon expansion tank at the water
heater.

The hammer arrestors should be installed toward the end of the water
flow line.
For example, we had a long run to a shower that caused hammering from
the pressure and temp "anti-scald" control valve - the valve works by
shutting down the hot water to prevent scalding.

By installing the anti-hammer devices on each of the hot and cold
lines, we stopped the hammering.

The expansion tank keeps the hot water heater from developing excess
pressure - Water expands as it is heated and the expansion tank has an
air cushion to absorb the expansion.

So, install the anti-hammer device as close as possible to the valve
that causes the hammering (there may be more than one).

Also, install the expansion tank.

A regulator is only used if you feel the pressure is "too high"
througout the house.

there's a "Mini-Rester" and am wondering if this can be used on the water heater hot
water connection?
current water heater uses flex copper tubing from home depot and (if possible) would
like to stop the slight sound which occurs only on the hot water line (when hot water
is turned off)
