Default bedroom switches dont go anywhere??

Heh. 50% chance the problem is that someone replaced
a 1/2 switched outlet without breaking the tab.


Which means that both the incoming and outgoing wire to the switch
would always be live. If that's the case, you know what was done.

Often, (but not always), the switched wire is red. If a red wire
exists in the switch box, look for an outlet box with a red wire. If
it's capped, it was disconnected. There's always the possibility
someone placed a switch in the bedroom for another room. That's
rather stupid, but it happens. It could also be a mis-wired 3 way
switch for the hallway leading to the bedroom.

Lots of possibilities....
If there is an attic above, try to trace where the cables go.
