16 Franck-Hertz experiment is not quantized
Ed 01.12.31 ----------------------------------------
Abstract
--------
By increasing the voltage in the Franck-Hertz experiment we reach a
breakdown voltage in which the current existent between the grid and
anode is canceled. This breakdown voltage will be repeated at equal
intervals by increasing the voltage.

SNIP mainly details of the experiment

The lack of quantization from the above is merely lack of determination
of the amount of charge carried by an electron.
Other experiments give indcation of the charge of an electron.

Slight arguments remain until a determination of amount of energy in an
"electron-volt" is made from other experiments. The Frank-Hertz
experiment appears to me mostly to indicate that it takes a specific
amount of energy to ionize a merury atom - namely the amount equal to
charge of one electron multiplied by 10-11 volts.
