Default Mitsubishi big screen,

Greetings to alt.home.repair
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. For the last
four hours I've been
reading page after page ,searching for a little advice on what if
anything,I can do myself
to correct a problem I'm having with my Mitsu.big screen?. You guys
here on this site
know what you're talking about, I know this must be so, all the replies
to folks ( like myself)
that know nothing what so ever about T V repair, are not only
informative,but easy to
understand for us wannabees.
I would be most grateful, for any advice in regards to
the problem I'm having
with my Big screen ,The problem is this, the horizontal jumps,or
bounces! when the program being watched(any prog.)changes sceens,or
when graffics appear on the screen,. You
can have a perfect picture, then all of a sudden its like the
horizontal is out of adjustment
like fluttering,or bouncing. The movement stops when the next sceen
comes, and it's back to the perfect picture again, and so on.This
fluttering is always happening when any type of
words or graffics come up.
There must be some kind of simple adjustment, that
I can do myself,
but there are no horizontal or vertical adjustment control knobs on
this T.V. nor any
mention of how to adjust these functions in the maual, do I have to
call a service
guy just to adjust the horizontal? The set is about ten yrs old,I'm on
cable,
One more thing, and there's not much that can be
done about this is
way the audio level changes at the commercial,! it gets so loud at the
com. that I can hardly ever watch late night T,V any more because it
wakes everybody up at night if I'm not quick
to hit the mute button!
So there it is ,Again ,thanks for your time,
Sincerly Elwood, P. S. may god bless all our troops
in iraq,
and everywhere ,every single one of them is a
hero,their bravery and courage
is what makes me proud to be an American!

Well without a model number, it's almost impossible to tell for certain but
most tv's these days have few if any adjusment "knobs" Variables are
programmed either thru the remote or a special hookup. If yu can program
thru the remote, I would advise against you trying it. You can lock up
your TV and never get it back.
Now it is possible that the vertical jump is your cable. See if any of the
neigbors have the same problem or if it's just certain channels. If no one
else is seeing a problem, your cable drop from the pole may be bad. And
thats bad because the cable guy will say it's the TV and the TV guy will say
it's the cable.
For the audio difference, good luck. It comes from the ststion that way and
is probably going to take an act of Congress to fix. Some sets have an
audio leveler built in like my Mits does. It works ok, but nothing is going
to keep that Billy Mays guy from blasting the paint off the walls. For our
non-US friends, Mr Mays is a very loud spokesperson for a number of
products. In addition he has a very abrasive vioce, to me atleast.
