Default Low water pressure in the apartment

Ronnie wrote:
Hi,

I recently purchased a coop apartment in NYC and live on the top floor
(17th). The water pressure in the apartment is low . I asked the super
to look into it and he said that because we are on the 17th floor the
water pressure is low and there is nothing that can be done about it.

I would really appreciate if anyone can give any suggestions as to how
to increase the water pressure in the apartment or atleast for the
showers . I have even removed the blocking from behind the showers but
still its low.

Thanks
Ron

Have you talked to other owners on the same floor or higher? Have you
been to their apts to see what the flow is like? If what the super is
saying is true, it sounds like this is a known problem. If people on
that floor and above have inadequate pressure, you should get together
and let the coop board know about it, as it is their problem to fix.

As an alternate solution, I guess you could put a booster pump on the
line where it enters your apt.
