True, but remember there are two kinds of concrete, the kind that's
cracked, and the kind that's gonna crack ;-)

Except we've had a 20X40 concrete slab patio in CT that has stood for over
40 years with no cracks, and no control joints, and no maintenance. I'm
not sure how they achived this feat.

Good base preparation. If what the slab is sitting on doesn't move,
the slab won't crack.
