I wouldn't try anything other than cleaning spools with alcohol at this
stage. You don't want to cause irrevocable damage if spares are hard to
come by.
try tonbandwelt.de forum if you haven't already, they have a section on
cassette decks.

How old is it? most more recent SABA stuff was made by Thomson.....
