Default OFF-TOPIC How can I get into my stronbox? (Lost Keys)

Hi... thanks for the advice. The problem is, someone told me that if I
went to a locksmith and had a key made, it would cost at least $25...
which is more than the box itself... lol

Thanks

If it's the cheap clamshell type (like a small briefcase shape), there
is usually a clip or nut or both holding the main part of the lock in
place..when the lock is turned, a tab on the other side engages to lock
the thing. You can see the tab that's holding it closed on the opposite
end of the lock from the keyhole. When the little sliding spring clip
or nut is loosened (loosen nut and slide clip off sideways?) the lock
assembly goes loose in the hole and can be manipulated so that the thing
can be opened. Don't every buy one of these if you actually want
security. A little fire protection, maybe but not security.

Note...teens who hang around with the wrong crowd often get these cheap
safes thinking they can hide "personals" inside. Doesn't hurt to know
how to get it open in an emergency or suspected drug use. Of course
opinions will vary to all sides of the scale on that kind of invasion of
privacy. Not advocating either side here...every kid is different.
