With gutters you can channel the water away from the house. You don't
want excess water close to the house. Over time, it can cause
foundation problems. It also can splash back on the siding, keeping it
wet so that it will rot. It also can create erosion. Take a look at
how large a section of your roof is. Imagine rain from that entire
area being deposited on the ground where it goes without gutters.
