There's a lot of industrial and business "growth" that is based on the same
rising population scam. Many businesses can't make money in a
zero-population-growth environment. The only reason that your house is
worth more when you retire than when you bought it is because of population
growth. Just look at the value of real estate "investments" in towns that are
loosing people to other regions of a country.
