That is EXACTLY what Meehan and others are proposing;that the US -ignore-
illegal(criminal) entry into the US;
*as long as the illegal gets a job and keeps their nose clean.*

Sorry, but that's _not_true_. Most persons arrested for misdemeanors
are released on bond. The problem is that the illegal aliens have
false IDs. Release Jose on bond, and an hour later, he has a new false
ID. Jose is now Carlos, and Jose disappears forever.

And then they are fugitives from Justice.
(Isn't that a felony?)
