also, you will have readjust the springs as you will be
adding weight. Door openers are just a convince and not made
to pull a lot of weight. So disconnect it from the door and
adjust so it is easy to open and close by hand then
reconnect the opener.

Jean, take a bar of ordinary bath soap and lightly rub it
between the
door sections. The soap will counter the paint's residual
tack. I use
this trick on window sashes, and it works great.
