Default Beware of King Koil Memory foam top mattress

I am just posting this message in case anyone is thinking of buying a
KingKoil "Emerald" series mattress ( it has a memory foam topping)

I am left with no other option now than to dump this mattress and buy
a new one ( unless i decide to put up with the pain)

I had a similar experience with the Serta Perfect Sleeper. Expensive,
and the warranty was just not honored. I think the thing was only
comfortable for about 2 or 3 MONTHS. Didn't even get "as good" of
service, as you did, on the warranty. They basically just said, "nope,
we're not going to honor it."

Next mattress we bought I did a LOT of research. (Internet was not
available to us when we bought the Serta) Came to the following
conclusion based on our experience and research on other brands too:

The warranty is a joke on any mattress. Not only do the manufacturers
rarely warrant "comfort" but their standards of what is "defective" are
significantly different than what people sleeping on the things think
of as "defective." You usually have to pay something to get a mattress
repaired or replaced. Most warranties are pro-rated so you may be
better off cutting your losses and buying a decent, but less fancy,
mattress and just replacing it more often. Most warranties require you
buy their box springs with the mattress, but these often contribute to
early sagging. Put a cheap but decent mattress on a platform bed or
solid support and it generally performs as well or better than
expsensive fancy mattresses and box spring combinations.

In the end we got a couple yrs use out of a bare bones basic mattress,
then when it wore out, and we could afford it, we bought a Tempurpedic.
Too soon to tell if it will live up to its claims or warranty as we
have had no problems with it. We do like it a lot, but it is very
heavy, and you are not supposed to try and bend or unbend it if it's
gotten frozen in a cold weather move, so the next time we move will be
"real interesting." Maybe we'll just have to make sure we don't move
in the winter.
