Yes,one tooth out and it'll cause problems ie "unsycronising" pushing the
tray back into the housing will move the cogs, the tray has to be placed
into position basically.

Someone at work did that with a CDROM drive -- caught the tray
with their chair and it pinged halfway across the office.
All that was required in that case was to push it back in, past
a click stop which was designed to stop it coming right out.
