Default cleaning brass/copper

How would one create that sort of chocolate brown patina? I like to make
copper and brass tokens for my shop and would like to give them a nice dark
brown, deep green or blue patina. Something more than just a light surface
coating.

There are all sorts of patination compounds available.

I've used NOVACAN Black Patina for Solder and Lead which darkens brass
- almost black.

The copper one can be used as well, and tends to be slightly greenish,
but to get bright green you really need copper.

Th first on uses selenious and nitric acid.
The second uses zinc cloride.
