My AEG fridge and freezer say leave for 2 hours after moving in a
horizontal
position to allow oil to settle to bottom.

Assuming I don't have the luxury of letting it stand for many hours, I
always use a regime of turning on for short periods, making the periods
longer and longer until left on permanently.

I start by turning it on for 20 seconds in every five minutes, until an hour
later it has progressed onto 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off. Then I leave it
on. I have not lost a freezer yet.
