Default only in Texas: Mechanic sucked into jet engine

Well all i can say is i'm happy this got out employee satisfaction at
airports would probably drop a lot if pressure washing the salsa
groundbeef mix that used to be Joe off the tarmac becomes common

I don't know about the Tom Cat, but a lot of aircraft have a
generatore and CSD mounted directly on the front of the engine and
driven off the main compressor shaft.....Then they have a strut or two
through which wires and hyrdraulic lines are routed.....from the
CSD/GEN to outside the inlet portion of the airframe....Even if you
were not killed, I could imagine just getting sucked into the air
inlet and getting hung up on that CSD/GEN would be quite an
experience. I know that while a person does not normally "go through"
the engine per se, there is enough suction that makes breathing
impossible.. Pics and reports I have seen of USAF incidents usually
had suffocation listed as the main cause of death.....and most
injuries were generally listed as minor or non-life
threatening....most actual injuries listed were things like missing or
mashed up fingers, feet, elbows etc......lots of bruiseing and
lacerations if they happened to hit any pitot devices that are
typically mounted in the intakes.....

Sounds as though the modern commercial engines with the huge exposed front
fans would be a bigger hazard than military stuff, as far as making a real
mess is concerned.
