I have a 7tr old Maytag washing machine and have noticed smaill oil spots
underneath the front of it... I turned it over and there is a cylindrical
plastic cover that covers what looks like a flywheel with the belt around it
that seems to be the source of the leak... I am thinking that this cover
contains the oil which is used to lubricate the transmission..

Does anyone have any idea if I am correct? I have also read that a small
amount of oil under a washing machine is normal..

Thanks for your help

You are right and no it is not normal either a bearing seal is seeping
or the seal around the two trans housing is bad or maybe if any luck
at all just a few screws need to be tightened hope I helped
