Default Clothes dryer noises

A couple things come to mind. Pull the plug. Take at two bottom screws and
take door off. The door supports the front of drum. Look for 2 plastic shims
(they call them glides) and make sure they are still in place. If not you
have metal on metal. Could be the drum pulleys. They support the drum, the
look like wheels. Make sure they are moving smooth. One of them could have
seized up. Next go to the back. Check the pulley that gives tension to belt.
It is spring loaded. Does it go round nice and smooth? What does the belt
look like?
Might also be blower housing. This is located in the front. It looks like a
plastic gerbil wheel. When mine went bad it mad a terrible noise.
Have you checked out the repair clinic on line?

My Maytag clothes dryer is about 15 years old. Lately I have noticed
that although it still dries clothes normally, there is a noise that
sounds like something is rubbing in the motor. It is a hiigh pitched
noise. Any ideas what this is and is it something that can be fixed by
a homeowner with moderate fixit abilities
