intermittent air in oil feed to central heating boiler

Hello, the outlet from my oil tank is about 4 feet below the level of the
bottom of the boiler.
If the boiler is off for any length of time the burner "misses" (stutters)
and occasionally i need to bleed the line to make it fire.
I used to have an in line reservoir (self pumping/filling) but it died (and
a plumber said i shouldn't need it).
Does anyone know if its possible to get an in line reservoir type
thing....or......would a tiger loop help me in any way.
All help appreciated.
Is the pump connect via a flexible braided hose, to permit servicing of the
burner head?
If so replacing this may help as they tend to become permeable to air as they
age.
My own boiler uses a 2 pipe system.
