I wouldn't use either WD40 oe SAE 30 engine oil. Neither is of the same consistency or composition as the Record oil. I wouldn't use the latter either but only because I am a tight-fisted Yorkshireman. I am reliably informed that the Record oil which they sell at some exhorbitant price is nothing other than automotive oil as used in automatic gearboxes and power steering systems. Certainly I used this for years in my CL3 and the bearings were fine.
