I have been making wands like these for about a year. One of my daughters is into matters "magical" and she suggested the idea. I find that turning the handle and pointy bit out of two different woods makes the job easier and gives a more attractive end result. (See attachment)

I did get a commission for a wand entirely of Willow (for a White witch, so I was told). It was a swine to turn and I ended up doing it in two bits.

Clearly punters in the USofA have more money to throw away than in little old England, if I make £10 (GBP) per wand I am doing well here.
