I got a laughing in my hat e-mail with that in it -
the drills are coated - if they were solid stuff they would likely
twist if ever slightly jammed.

The coating is just to help reduce wear with hard materials.
Doesn't say as to the quality at all. A chunk of lead can be Ti
coated.
