hi all!
i am starting a hobby project where i need to weld a lot of 2" 1/4wall
square tubing. a lot of miter cuts etc.
can someone please suggest a good welder for this specific case? i have
some tig & mig experienec but don't currently own a welder myself. i
was looking at the miller maxstar tig and the millermatic.
any suggestions are welcome.
thanks,

The Millermatic would be the way to go -- or any of the good
175 amp MIG machines. Hobart is the same as Miller for a few bux
less. The Lincoln SP175 has continuous (not stepped) voltage
control, which doesn't matter on1/8" and thicker but can be useful
on thinner metal. They all run about $700 (less on sale) and can
do up to 5/16" steel in one pass.
