I have a couple of more questions:

1) I used Silicone to seal the pipe entrance. Is it okay? It won't
react with iron, right?

2) Say I solve the problem by using one of your suggestion, should I do
something to the rust (there is some but not a lot) on the pipe. Will
the rust expand without condensed water?
