Freeing off any clips a bit thus allowing the pipe to move a little but
still suported is also a means of stopping these resonances. I tried the
tighten/fix everything securley route but that just altered the frequency
and onset point of the resonance. Making everything slack cured it...


Also adding insulation to the pipes touching a wall or similarly
immoveable object helps.

Have you left a hose attached to the outside tap? If so (and the tap is on)
it acts as a superb hydraulic accumulator and will create hammer - likewise
washing machine hoses.
