We seem to have a bit of a problem with our main cold water pipe feeding the
tank in the attic. Whenever we run the cold water, including flushing the
toilet and running a shower, the pipe vibrates and makes a banging noise of
varying degrees.

With the exception of the kitchen tap (which also feeds the washing machine
and garden tap) there are no other "spurs" off this pipe before it reaches
the main storage tank in the attic.

I can only assume that somehow air has got into this pipe (we did fit a new
tap outside) but am open to other options.

My question is, how do I get the air out/fix the noise and vibration?
