Hello Wrecking Crew!

I hope you are all shopped out for Christmas. For the first time
EVER..... I am all done.
12 pound turkey, fresh, dead. I'm thinking of tossing it on the Weber,
but the wife wants drippings for gravy....sooo.

The fine people at Festool ship a green rubbery anti static hose with
their sander. It works great. No more shocks, and stuff sticking to the
outside of the hose. It also collapses and recovers nicely after
stepping on it. I want an additional one.
An 10-foot length from Festool is close to 100 US dollars.
The fitting and sizes are normal enough, but a hundred bucks?

I have Googled and there are alternatives out there, but I was hoping
some of you fine folks would have been using something you could suggest?

I would appreciate your help.

I'm sure the Festool stuff must be finely made, but it's just too
outrageously priced for me...I've not seen, however, a flexible
grounding style hose though, sorry...

Soooo are you thinking of hooking that hose up under the turkey to catch
the drippings. I bet it will melt.. `~)

electronic components and high-end plant maintenance kit. They sell a
range of vac hose, including anti-static types. It's expensive, but
cheaper than Festool and no more than other suppliers of similar hose.

You were rich enough to spend too much for a sander, so why are you being so
cheap about buying another hose for it?

Let me see... how can I respond to this without setting off a flame war?

I make my living with that sander. I refinish solid surface countertops
as a sideline.

Some things are worth the money, some things are not.
The sander is worth the money, the hose is not.
The reason I had the money to buy the sander in the first place was
because I am careful how I spend my money.
When it comes to the tools of MY trade, I know my needs.

I guess your reply means that you do not have any suggestions?

Festool is cheaper than Fein.
When I go into somebody's house to refinish (sand) their solid surface
countertop, I have several choices.
Clean up afterwards, or not make any airborne dust in the first place.
I can sand for 4 hours or sand for 2.
Do a better job than the competition or not.
If I book two refinish jobs on one day, the difference on the price of
the sander is practically paid for.
There are several sander/sucker combinations from different
manufacturers. Fein pioneered the game, and several followed.
They are all around $1000.00 and selling just fine.
I don't buy tools like this because I can afford it...I cannot afford
not to.
