I have noticed that hiding nail holes ,scratches and cracks in woodwork is
sort of an art it takes real patience and dedication to take time to do it
successfully the matching of colors getting it into place blending and then
covering with top finish.

Yup. Despite how easy they try to make it, there is still an element of

Covering hail holes is much easier if you drive the nail through a piece
of masking tape and apply the putty through the hole in the tape. Let
dry, remove the tap,e and then you only have a spot the size of the nail
hole to address rather than the putty that get smeared into the
surrounding grain.
