Has anyone tried one of these battery repair tricks available for sale
on ebay? Just wondering if they do really work.

Spose you are talking about repair kits for batteries for drill
drivers, etc. Yeah they will work. The batteries on the inside are
just a bundle of regular batteries wired\soldered together and to the
contacts in a specific pattern to deliver the correct voltage to the
tool.

You have to crack the plastic case and deal with getting all the
alignment correct, good solder joints, etc. then glue it back
together.

If you like that sort of stuff go for it. Howvere, I think buying
rebuilts or getting someone to do the rebuild for you is probably
nearly as cost effective and they will have the experience to do it
right.

A quick google delivers http://www.batterypackrepair.com/ and

If that is the subject matter, try to get NiMh batteries instead of the old
technology Ni-Cad.

The manufacturers wanted planned obsolescence via the cheap batteries. The
chargers will do for both. LIon is a diferent horse. Don't even attempt to
change the style to one of those. They explode and can be dangerous.

Or are you talking about the books that are about $6? The books are
basically going to tell you how to restore a battery with a mig
welder.
