Did the binary picture group go away?

I don't seem to be able to get anything on it, and am not able to post
to it.
Did my newsservice stop providing it, or did it die?

Thanks

It is still there. Not as active as before, but still there.

Many newservers no longer provide binary service.

It's there, and your message got through. If nothing else, try resetting
your message numbers (it varies by newsreader: DAGS for specifics) and see
if you can get the messages then.

It's possible your NNTP provider isn't showing any of the new messages for
some reason, but look at your settings first.

I am another who would like to reconnect...but have had no luck.
I lost pictures of a panel I was carving around 2000.
I would like to have them, and would appreciate any help.
It was entitled 'Moses' and posted by DAClark and/or anything else
posted by that name.
Thanks

Have you checked to see if your ISP is still carrying binary
newsgroups? Many ISP's have dropped them with the excuse that not
enough people use them anymore. Contact your newsgroup supplier. If
they don't carry binaries anymore then you need to find a new
supplier.

YMMV

================

Astraweb here. I pay once and it will last me for many years.

It has definitely been worth it for me.

Go to www.astraweb.com

DO NOT sign up for the monthly rate. Go for the usage rate. It will go much
furteher.

www.teranews.com

$3.95 one time fee. Limit 50MB per day. Long retention of binary files
(months to years on some)

Only thing is they make you top post.

If you just want limited time downloading you could try one of the free
trial providers and then cancel.

I couldn't log onto this group or abpw until recently when I found out that
Charter Communications changed the address from "news.charter.net" to
"nntp.charter.net" and couldn't get in even then until I found that all
Charter customers within an ip range could get in without a password. I
found this through some blog I found on Google. If I entered any password
or login, it wouldn't let me in. So I haven't been able to see this group
for years with a newsreader, only thru Googles web pages. I called Charter
and they were of almost no help, and suggested that I contact Micro$soft for
tech help. They had no clue about what a news server is. I think some
other company subs that service for them, as I seem to remember.

Anyway, I can't say much about what has happened to the posts, but only that
there are very few in abpw. Maybe other isp companys did the same as
Charter... who knows.

I live outside of town, and Charter Cable is the only isp I can get, other
than slow dialup or high-dollar satellite. DSL may be here some day, but I
may be too old to see the computer by then.
