Default Install Ridgid jointer knives

Has someone come up with a better way to correctly install knives on a
Ridgid jointer than the method in the manual? According to the manual
you have to loosen the four bolts holding each knife, hold a straight-
edge along the outfeed table and slide the knife up so that it just
touches the straight-edge, and while doing that tighten the bolt. Then
do the other side which is impossible to do because you tightened the
bolt on the other end of the knife. There must be some sort of jig
that can hold the jointer knife at the correct height while I tighten
the bolts. The way mentioned in the book seems inaccurate and
difficult to do.
