I'm new to the group - wood bending question

I'm about to try to make a bent elm "bucket seat" like this:
http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgur...%3Den%26sa%3DN
I have the choice of standing timber or air dried unsawn log as the
source of my wood.
Which is best?
How dry does it need to be before I can thickness plane it to 3/8"?
How hard will it be to bend to roughly 9" radius?
Any suggestions???

Thanks.

Not trying to be a wise guy here, but that's a lot to ask for a reply
on a newsgroup or forum. People spend years learning steam/pressure
woodbending to get it right.

Luckily for you, just about any search engine will overwhelm you with
page after page of information. For example:

Good luck!
