I have to comment here as my newsreader doesn't seem to want post replies. I think that's beautiful work. You have a nice touch. I didn't get the whole post, so I may have missed the information as to who designed the nightstand? How thick are those sides of the carcasse. How is walnut in that thickness for warping? r |

I have to comment here as my newsreader doesn't seem to want post replies. I think that's beautiful work. You have a nice touch. Thank you Sir. I didn't get the whole post, so I may have missed the information as to who designed the nightstand? My customer, a 94 year old woman that I have known since I was 6, I am now 52, handed me a picture out of a magazine. The stand had a TV and VCR setting on /in it. She wanted that basic configuration but dressed up a bit for bed room night table. I completely reddsigned the legs and lower apron and added the corner details, raised panel appearance on the drawer and top back edge guard. How thick are those sides of the carcasse. 3/4" thick. Actually all the Walnut on the piece is 3/4" thick except for the drawer back and sides which are 1/2" thick. I used a beading bit on the front edge and front edge side of the legs and cabinet sides to make the sides appear to be a bit thinner and to add the round bead in the corners. The legs are 2 pieces of 3/4" glued up to 1.5" thick and squared to 1.5" x 1.5" x 7.75" long. The bottoms of the legs are 3/4"x 3/4". I mortised and tenoned the union of the legs and aprons. How is walnut in that thickness for warping? '~) No problems so far. Farther down in the post I posted 2 pictures of one a pair of night stands I built about 4 years ago out of Walnut. I'll repost in a new thread. Those, are an example of what I consider my best work. |

I do get images from guys who upload them to places like PhotoBucket and ImageShack then post the links. My ISP (Bell Sympatico) doesn't seem to want to support newsgroups any more. r |
