I know there are several people out here that are intelligent and have
morals. However even with all the filters in the world this low life gets by and it takes a long time to manually delete his crap. So not that I will be missed from this newsgroup but I am leaving what I thought was a place of intelligent people and will just buy books and read articles.. Hell I can change a page to get rid of an ad that way.... Don't have to worry about the jerk imbedding a virus in print either. Good luck to you all that stay. I have learned allot and thank the good people for their help and guidance since I have been coming here. One day someone will figure out who it is that is doing this and they will get what they deserve. I would say more but then I would lower myself to his/her level. If you avoid every NG that has the occasional (or even frequent, on some groups) a-hole piping up you're going to have about 6 heavily moderated groups to choose from. Don't let the *******s win, I always say. Getting viruses from a non-binary NG post is not really an issue. Dan Not sure what you can or can't get I keep all scanners up to date. I only subscribe to 3 groups I am not interested in alot of the things out here. I just bought a house and listen and learn to the more experienced wood workers out here for advice and or ideas. Some day this low life will get his. Twenty plus years ago there was somebody cross posting junk to almost all of the newsgroups. A core of internet techies around the tracked him down. No need to manually delete at all. If you use Outlook express (and I am
sure there are other news capable programs that also have this), you need to set up filters or rules. Then, although tedious at first, all you have to do is come up with a list of words that appear in unwanted postings (subject or in the body). Then these posts can be highlighted in another color, or deleted, or moved into a temp. folder for later review. An alternative: since these attacks tend to run in a continuous string, highlight the first one, page down to the last one while leaving the first one highlighted and press the Shift key down and then highlight the last one.
