Opportunity to buy a Performax 22x44, brand new, at a very good price.
Yes, I'll use it for a few projects here and there but will probably
never get whole lot of use out of it. So I'm blinded by the low price
and not seeing through it how it will be a seldom used tool in the
shop. Someone please stop me.

I think you were trying to post to alt.tool.junkies.anonymous.
Unfortunately, you've reached alt.woodwhacking.enablers.

I'm sure there's an equation out there, cooked up by some propeller
head, that would let you plug in your shop's square footage, price of
the tool, utilization coefficient, nag factor (What? You bought
another tool?! You don't even use the ones you have!) and you'd be
able to see hard, concrete numbers which you could then ignore when you
buy the tool.

If it's a good price, buy it, use it, turn around and sell it after a
few projects. If it wasn't that useful, you won't have a problem
selling it, and if the price is that good you'll probably make a
profit.

HTH ;)

I have the 16x32 and love it.
I use it much more than I thought.
Put 50 grit on and you can clean up old boards that you wouldn't want to put
in your planer.

As with most tools, once you have the tool the projects that utilize it
magically materialize - things you'd never even think of before you got
the tool.

Screw Pete. Keep it in my shop. Come over and use it whenever you want
and drink my beer. I'll have SHMBO make lunch.

When I purchase tools that I expect I'll only use occasionally it often
turns out that I wonder how I ever got along without it and give it a lot of
use. That has caused me to buy the best I can afford so I won't be limited
by the tool, or have to later buy the one I should have bought in the 1st
place. And then have to try to find a sale for the lower cost one.

column?

IMHO the amount of stopping is directly related to the price, So how low is
this "...low price..."?

$959. + $49. shipping - $80. promotion -$100. rebate = $828.

Amazon, caught it just in time. Price went back up to $1199. last
night.

Amazon has some insane deals if you're lucky enough to catch them.
That's how I got my miter saw.

Some of their big iron comes around for a decent price, and free
shipping, making it a really solid deal, too.

Congratulations!
