Why do I feel all creepy when I read this? Who are these super net nanny
folks who think we need an alternative to the wreck? Must be too much
intelligence and real discussion to suit them.

And this all ages-family crap?? How does this apply to woodworking? Am I
suppose to show my three year old neice how to play with table saws and
routers? Talking about power tools with small children?? This sound far
more dangerous than any moronic line of logic these folks could muster up.

bothering.

Thank you.

And they think the trolls won't specifically seek them out. Sadly, that
will without a doubt be the result of all this. We _did_ try to tell
them.

Oooow. He said "crap". I'm taking my circular saw-wielding two-year-old
over to the new family-friendly newsgroup.

Well, if you limit your knowledge sources to only folks who talk nice, you
don't learn very much.

Which seems to be part of Susan's merry band of usenet censors agenda.

So, in effect, this is an attempt to "dumb down" woodworking discusions.

Why all the hostitility to this announcement? Is there some history
here that I don't know about? If there's an audience for a moderated
group, it will make it, otherwise, it will fail.

I was thinking along similar lines.
How could the new group have any impact on this group? As far as I'm
concerned, I'll extend my best wishes for success in her endeavor and
drop in on both groups to contribute and/or learn.
Whatever happened to 'live and let live'?

You definitely need to DAGS on her name as well as Vito Kuhn. Their
interest is in splitting the rec, not joining. They tried having their
own group formed and lost due to fraud in the voting process. If you
read some of their posts, you'll detect the holier than thou odor. Oh
hell, DAGS and all will be made clear.

Yup. Tons of it. Susan and - what's his name - Leo or Leon or
something - wandered in here, pronounced us unfit, and blundered through
several iterations of telling us what was good for us, except that they
never came here to make their case, they just tried to come up with
groups to save us from ourselves. In the process, forged emails,
massive vote fraud, and continued absence of building support here
ensued. Whazzizname actually has a place on the net.kooks hall of shame
as a result of those, and his subsequent, actions.

Limiting it to the minimal propagation of a bogus new top level
hierarchy is even more limiting. You can of course create any usenet
group or hierarchy you want, but if you don't play by the big boys'
rules, then it won't propagate past your own server.

They could make a million of them, and it would be fine- except for
the fact that there is an announcement every couple of months or so
from this twit and her buddy Vito reminding us all that the Wreck is a
filthy cesspool of naughty words and terrible vices. My experience
has been otherwise- very few groups related to any subjects I have any
interest in are nearly as clean or high-minded as this one, so I don't
take kindly to her raving. YMMV.

My dearest, darlingest Suzie-Q;

I am distraught (distraught!) that my current news provider does not
yet carry the fam.* hierarchy. Can you please provide a list of the
providers who are carrying fam.*? Is there a web to news gateway for fam.*

Please, please let me know how to access this bountiful feast of

Guess I'll have to have a chat with my news server. Can't seem to find
anything at all with the fam. prefix, even after loading new groups and
getting a brand new complete listing.

Drat. And me here with a family and everything. 'Course, the kid's all
grown up and moved away and all we got now is a couple cats and a dog, but
still. Now I can't do any family woodworking.

If this is the same group that tried it about a year ago they are not
friendly - they can be vicious. Several of occasional Wreck'ers fell victim
to having counterfeited flaming, vulgar and insulting posts and emails sent
to other members in their names. My wife and grandkids got to read some of
this crap. That campaign probably caused some of the more casual Wreck
posters to drop out.

Why do the lyrics to the Ramones - We're a Happy Family come to mind:

"We're A Happy Family"

We're a happy family
We're a happy family
We're a happy family
Me mom and daddy

Sitting here in Queens
Eating refried beans
We're in all the magazines
Gulpin' down thorazine

We ain't got no friends
Our troubles never end
No Christmas cards to send
Daddy likes men

Daddy's telling lies
Baby's eating flies
Mommy's on pills
Baby's got the chills

I'm friends with the President
I'm friends with the Pope
We're all making a fortune
Selling Daddy's dope

Get a load of that charter. It's a goddamn nanny newsgroup. Worse yet,
Susie and Vito are the nannies.

Will they permit discussion of projects other than liturgical
furnishing, crosses, altars and the like?

Never had a dog in the Vito Kuhn/UsenetKook fight but reading the posts
dumped on us here at the wreck I think I'd rather check the sharpness of
my saw blades with my tongue than sign on with either side of that group.

My sweet, lovable Suzie-Q;

Can you please reconsile the following statements from the fam.woodworking
charter (currently posted at http://charters.family-usenet.com):

"The purpose of the unmoderated newsgroup fam.woodworking"...

and

"Administrators of the fam.* hierarchy reserve the right to cancel any

not adhere to these guidelines."

Please, please don't tell me that you've setup a stealth moderated group!
Because you wouldn't lie to us, right? I'm certain that you'll give us a

status. Because, as a Christian, I know that you wouldn't want to mislead

It's good to see so many fine on-topic discussions in this excellent

Could you also announce to the new group that this
group exists also?

Don't forget alt.kooks too, because that's where all
the crossposts will be coming from.

that's alt.usenet.kooks

I'd like to read fam.circle or whatever it's called,
but I don't think I'd like the torrent of foul
language it will be. And it will be.

No fooling...

Have any of the major service providers created
fam.usenet.kooks, yet?

Good Day to you Chad...

Google has the group set up and I think Octonews? 'Ratz
said Supernews had it set up.

I wrote a series of questions... and I am waiting for
Frito to answer them.

Just to start things off right and keep this on topic...

Do you ever work your wood in the morning?

Only when the wife won't work it for me

I wish someone wood let me know if I wood be allowed to poast in the wood
group. I wood rilly, rilly, rilly appreciate it, yes I wood.

Is it OK to discuss Woody Woodpecker and the need for a sealer coat to
avoid splinters during mating season?

I wood also like to know if Frito's head is on topic in the wood group.

If you wood let me know, pleace?
