Nice looking piece of work. How about some pics of your homemade router setup? I was thinking about documenting the build and putting it up as a how-not-to-do things but time is the problem. It's not one of my best pieces of work. Looking from a different perspective though, it was engineered/built from the ground up by me, an enormous feat. Even with all warts it's still pretty amazing. Learned a lot along the way but I think ultimately I'm going to buy one. Something I can use and actually produce with instead of working on fine tuning. |

I did notice... there was something "off" about it the first time I looked at it and then I got to wondering if I was seeing it from the wrong side (transparent)... but the "1911" read correctly so I wasn't sure what to make of it. Figured it was me... I'm the kind of guy who notices white line spacers on butt plates in cowboy movies... and the Ruger revolver used in photos for the TV show The Americans that was not produced until years after the time frame in which the show is set. It's an annoying habit. ;~) John |

That said if I'm going to make any money at this, anything custom can and will vary dramatically, the artwork is very time consuming. If you're interested in something for yourself, and are willing to build the stand, we can make a deal for a lot less. Don't make Minimum wage, you'll regret it. And you'll bail. Include a nice profit so you can purchase new bits and stuff. Pricing too tight is a lose lose situation. -- Jeff |

I intend on turning this into a part time job, however, on my schedule not theirs. At this point I don't even know what one cost to build. I have assembled a list of the components so I can figure out exactly what it costs. Some of the material I had laying aroung and didn't include. It'll probably be an eye opener when I actually have real numbers. Also building them one at a time is far slower. It takes probably 1.5 hours total to build a single base but I could probably build 20 of them with an additional hour. I originally thought that starting around $75 was a reasonable price but the general concensus is that I'm cheating myself. I still don't think they'll fetch much more than that unless it's a custom design. I believe custom is where the money is at. It's also about finding a market that has the money to spend.
