My condolences. Any insurance? I hope nothing else burned.

I feel like a mourning period is appropriate. Plans to rebuild?

Thank you all. Hoping to rebuild bigger.
No one hurt. I live in a small community in north Mississippi. Local
volunteer fire dept arrived just in time. I believe in another five
minutes or less the house would have caught fire from the intense
heat. They used 5000 gallons of water in a short time. House has
some cracked glass and warped vinyl siding on one end. Big oak tree
will have to come down and that will be expensive. I'm sure I'll take
a loss, but I did upgrade my insurance a few years ago with my home
additions and when I began to acquire more tools so maybe it won't be
so terrible.

It's tough having to go through all that ... lost our home in a flood a
few years back, so I know what it feels like to deal with all the
unanticipated things that come up. Glad no one was hurt, including your
house, and best of luck dealing with the aftermath.

You must feel naked without tools.

It will be good therapy to build that new shop. I bet you can't wait to
begin.

That really sucks! Fortunately you are not displaced.

When you go for new equipment look around, many manufacturers will make you
package deal.

That is truly nasty. Having lived for some years in an area where fire
is increasingly a large problem, and having friends who have lost homes,
I have a feel for your loss. Keep us posted.

Still underdermined. Fire dept seemed to think it may have started
with a problem with electrical transformer on pole at corner of my
lot that fed electricity to my property and others in the
neighborhood. Pole is burned badly and transformer is leaking, but
don't know if damage came from fire in my shop or started there.
Electrical service, phone, and cable was out to many of us for several
hours. Temp hook up right now. Waiting for ground to dry up before
replacing pole and transformer. We've had a lot of rain this spring
so much of the area needs to dry before any heavy equiptment can be
brought in for repairs.

My friends mechanic's shop burned two years ago. Amazing all the tools we
were able to salvage from the rubble and clean up. He had no insurance so
it was a necessity. Finally rebuilding it next month. Good luck to you &
hope it all turns out best as possible.

Get yourself a good insurance adjuster. They typically get 5%, but can get
a lot more from the company than you can on your own.

I know one person ready to settle a claim for $20,000 and thought it fair.
Adjuster got him over $100k.

Boy that's a tough one indeed. Sorry you're having to go through that.
Start planning your new shop and tool purchases.. Think positive thoughts..
all that new uncluttered space.. and please post a picture of your new shop
when its done..!

After you finish with insurance company, if you have any advice for the rest
of us on dealing with them on tool replacement, etc., please let us know..

Very sorry to hear/see. I certainly am glad it didn't progress to the
house or other on the street. And I hope your insurance is good to you
in getting things recovered and restored quickly.

As a child I spent one Palm Sunday watching a house burn up the street
from my own and folks died. It was a three floor home with basement
split into an apartment per floor. The older man living on the third
floor fell asleep on his couch with a lit cigarette and died. A couple
of children died too. I could feel the searing heat over a block away.

I still get chills every Easter remembering it.
