another hinge question
Soliciting your ideas. I frequently build small boxes out of materials
1/4" or less. This prevents me from using most of the common methods of hinging the top. Any ideas on how to hinge something that's 1/8" or so? I'm thinking leather might work. Which side out (is it just a matter of preference?)? What glue to use? |

This question deals with stock much thinner. Too thin for barrel- or barb-style hinges, or hinges using screws or pins. At any rate, you might get more responses if you asked in rec.woodworking Thanks, guess Ill do that. |

The jeweler's slotting saw's kerfs for the barbed hinges are .022", .035" and .046" depending on the hinge and the type of wood used. Even 1/8" thick stock should accommodate the barbed hinges. Might be worth another look then. |

If you us leather, you'd probably want to have a lip extending from the lid
so it would sit straight when closed. Or, make the hinges straps that go around the box and become the catch also. -- Mike Watch for the bounce. If ya didn't see it, ya didn't feel it.
