I posted some shot of this thing about a week or so ago, I have made a
little progress since .The desk is in solid curly? maple [or should it be
called tiger maple] .

All one has to do is look at it and it chip away. Even with sharp joiner
blades it still chips, the solution saw every joint you can ,at least it
does not chip just burns regardless of how sharp the blade is and how
carfully the fence is adjusted.

One good thing the remainder [excluding the breadboards on the fall ] is all
in Walnut.....mjh

That wild maple is going to jump right out at you when you put some finish
on this beauty.

Is there going to be some hardware or handle on the desk supports to pull
them out?

Mike, looks really good, lot of nice work in your joinery. Be sure you post

I was watching Roy Underhill today and he had 2 men on the program the had
built a desk that was identical to your desk with the dovetails and all.
They had it dry fitted. The only difference to it was that had several
secret compartments built into it.
What book did you get the plan out of? Beautiful job.

The plans were in finewoodworking, three issues ,one for the carcase one for
cubbyhole fittings and one for the uppersection. mjh

Good looking work, Mike.

I've seen maple like that at the lumber dealer I use in Oakland, CA. I
bought some once, and made some small things out of it. I'll buy some more
when I get to be a much better woodworker. Until then, it just eats my
lunch!

Thanks for posting. Don't know what your earlier problem was, but these
worked.

I have one minor comment to make about the desk, though. I don't think I'd
have left the ends square on the desk supports. Using the desk could result
in damage to one's legs!

Well #1 the lopers are traditional ,#2 In a sitting position they
are above leg height, #3 when sitting the lopers are outside the leg area .

Next the customer has now decided the remainder will be in guess what
..........yea you guessed it maple...regards mjh
