I'm refinishing an old oak table. Been working on it for months.
Posted pictures of it last fall. Top, top skirt and legs are
stripped. Still have a frame piece and the lower shelf to strip. Top
is glued back together.....it is tounge and grove boards that were
held together with animal hide glue. Looks good, but wife wants a
mirror finish on the top. How do I do that with white oak. Read
somewhere (can't remember where) about wet sanding and using the slur
produced by the sanding to fill in the natural low places inherient
with the oak grain. Any help would be much appreciated.

Epoxy gives a very glossy finish but can yellow when exposed to the sun.

First word was meant to be Considering. Have read many times that
white oak is much easier to French Polish it as it has closed grain
instead of open like red oak.
