Which one? I have the 1067Z.

depends on which one

I had an 8691 and used it heavily for a year.

Its OK for small turnings of about 6 inches. The motor is weak which I
think is the statement that could be made for all the 1/2 HP grizzly
lathes. It just really isn't 1/2 HP.

I was looking at the Jet mini before I was given the grizzly. For the
money I would buy a mini non variable speed and you would have a solid
lathe that does what it is advertised to do.

When I had problems the customer service people were nice but it took
too long to get parts. For example it took more than 6 weeks for them
to replace the motor. They said they would refund the shipping for the
headstock and motor but only refunded about 1/3rd of it.. The tool rest
also broke when I looked into the problem I found this was a common problem.

Grizzly's two largest wood lathes have an odd spindle thread (1x12). Could
make finding faceplates, chucks, and other accessories tough.

I have a supernova chuck, a 6" faceplate (IIRC LV sells 1x12
faceplates) and a variety of spurs (MT2). I thought the 1x12 would be
a problem, but so far it hasn't.

Perhaps I didn't look far enough for accessories. I considered a Grizzly
G1495 but abandoned the idea because no one appeared to be selling that
thread in adaptors for the four-jaws, or faceplates, except for Grizzly
itself.

Both Teknatool (SuperNova) and Oneway have 1x12 adapters for their
chucks. Heck, they support pretty much ANY lathe (Oneway custom taps
on request). Lee Valley has 2" and 3" faceplates for 1x12, and if you
buy just the insert from Grizzly you can attach it to any home-made
accessory you want. You can buy 1x12 taps too although they're not as
common as 1x8 taps.

But yeah, 1x8 is much more popular.
