Looking for a 4850004 Tool Rest Base for the Ryobi Mini-Lathe ML618
A teacher at my school fell in love with this lathe, and the rest base snapped in half while he was turning a sycamore blank. I've attached a picture of it.

Your best bet, would be to have him make a trip to Harbor Freight and see if their mini lathe has a similar banjo. If it does not, and we were living decades earlier, the school shop could make him one out of a piece of bar stock and a piece of pipe. In fact that might well be the best course of action, have someone make him one. Its really a simple (for this particular banjo) job for a local machine shop. Having one made would also give him a much stronger banjo as the one that broke was cast and the one they would make would be out of rolled, mild steel. Just a thought, or two. |

Afraid I can't help with a replacement, as all the searches come back as
"obsolete, no replacement. Possibly Sears Parts as it says to call 888-837-0262. If it can't be repaired, he can do what some of us have done. Toss the rest and use the motor head as a variable speed buffer. Good luck, it is a nice little lathe.
