Default drying wood in microwave

I wait until the wife is away because this takes some time and the wood may
smell funny. Rough turn the piece until it has about a 3/4" wall thickness.
Then put it in the microwave and put the microwave on defrost for about 20
minutes. When the time is up take it out and let it cool for a few minutes.
Place it back in the microwave right side up and do it for another 20
minutes, repeat until piece is suitable (Usually it takes about an hour.)
Now you can finish turning the piece. Note pieces will sometime crack and
will sometimes deform after drying as they move towards room humidiity.
Have fun and try a few pieces.

Could any of your "experts" tell me how you dry wood with a microwave oven?

Do you dry the finished piece, the roughed out bowl or the bowl blank?

How do you keep it from burning the edge of the wood?

How long do you leave it in the oven?

Where can I find all of these answers, plus many more?

Jim

TIA
