Two more turnings
I just added the third canister I was working on, and a rowan salad bowl
to the album at: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...l=3 75941ede5 I'll post them in a.b.p.w as well. Had a nice relaxing day in the shop. So much so that I forgot all about eating lunch! Turned a walnut burl closed form, with a rowan lid. The lid has some nice fiddleback figure in it. The finish is drying now. Hope to post some photos later in the week. ....Kevin -- Kevin Miller - http://www.alaska.net/~atftb Juneau, Alaska In a recent survey, 7 out of 10 hard drives preferred Linux Registered Linux User No: 307357, http://linuxcounter.net |

I am working my way through some nice sycamore but never saw any rowan in person. -- Gerald Ross A watched clock never boils. |

I'm not sure what I have laying around right now but if I can find some rowan blanks would you be interested in a swap? Outside we have 2' of snow so finding any there isn't too likely but I may have some smaller pieces in the shop, I'm not too sure - I'll have to look around but there may be something out there. Rowan is a common decorative tree up here. Don't know about where you are. It has bright red berries in late summer and is a really pretty tree when they come out. Unfortunately, it's a very wet tree so usually suffers from heart rot when the tree gets to any size. But there's always some sound wood in it... ....Kevin -- Kevin Miller - http://www.alaska.net/~atftb Juneau, Alaska In a recent survey, 7 out of 10 hard drives preferred Linux Registered Linux User No: 307357, http://linuxcounter.net |

I've got loads of smaller blanks and only Sweetgum, Sycamore and cedar in larger blanks. I turn on an expanding bowl chuck, so all my blanks have the dovetail recess and are dry enough to turn. -- Gerald Ross I went on a 30-day diet - and lost 30 days! |
