Sure has gotten quiet in this group.

Been playing with having actual movement in pieces - spring wire,
pendulums, micro-bots and wind up toys. Now I'm working on audience
participation - pieces that have moving parts - and you can move the
whole thing - without touching it.

Cute version of an old idea. That has been around for quite a while and
still amazes me and other children. Most of these are set up as wheels in
some fashion and not having one does give problems of drag on the rope which
hurts operation to some degree. Go for it, its a great idea. Can I steal
your plans for the rope rig? I need some way to display the same sort of
thing and that would be perfect.

With your internal counter balance can you make it tilt forward and backward
as well as side to side, sort of like a drunk? That would be neat visual.

them
in a slightly different way.

Most of these are set up as wheels in

Which is why I'm going to use a necklace type spring clasp in the
bottom
of the box - epoxied discretely in place of course. This will allow
the piece
to be taken off the "rope" and put back on. In addition would
prevent it
from falling off - or being easily taken.

Intend to use monofilament line to reduce friction.

Also realize that having a spring above and below the center position
of
the "handle" would be a good idea, preventing the sudden raising or
lowering
with resulting piece crashing into one of the posts at either end of
the line.

You're welcome to using any of the stuff I post. But you gotta share
the results.

The thing would tilt automatically if the moveable end where raised
or
lowered suddenly. Because the handle can rotate on the vertical
post
some, the monofilament line can be moved left right some, causing
the piece to swing side to side as it slides up or down the line.

maybe it's time to use "organic propulsion" - like the "jumping beans" -
turn your object, put a grashopper inside to move the pieces and close it
back up - or make a bigger piece and put a poodle inside, or a small child,
or the entire mormon tabernacle choir, or .....
